Dogs don't belong at the movies, officials say

An Oakland movie theater tried to make that happen, but their plan was given two thumbs down by the county.

Alameda County health officials told the owners of the New Parkway Theater they could not allow dogs into their movie house for a Saturday afternoon matinee.

It appears the denial was centered around cleanliness and the food concessions.

The event was going to be a fundraiser for a local animal shelter. The proceeds from the 3 p.m. showing (without dogs) will still go to the shelter.
