Downtown Pleasanton Roads Closed Sunday Morning For Halloween Run

​The run, hosted by the Rotary Club of Pleasanton, will kickoff at 8 a.m. and is meant to raise money for Pleasanton's students.

PLEASANTON, CA — Some roads in downtown Pleasanton will be closed on Sunday morning as swaths of costumed joggers take the streets for the 29th annual Halloween Spirit Run.

Roads near Downtown Pleasanton, Alameda County Fairgrounds, Del Valle Parkway and Valley Avenue will be shuttered Sunday morning to make way for joggers clad in costumes and holiday garb.

Roads will be closed between approximately 6 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. for the event, according to the Pleasanton Police Department. Drivers should expect delays and be mindful of runners and pedestrians.

The run, hosted by the Rotary Club of Pleasanton, will kickoff at 8 a.m. and is meant to help raise funds to support scholarships for Pleasanton students and international projects run by the rotary club.

Over the past year, the club has been able to award $76,500 in scholarships to Pleasanton students to further their education, with most proceeds coming from the Halloween Spirit Run, according to the club.

The event will start and finish on Main Street in front of Workbench Hardware, and all 5K/10K entrants will get a long sleeved t-shirt with their race entry. A kid's challenge for ages 2-8 will also be offered, which includes a short-sleeved t-shirt.
