Driver Killed In Solo Crash On Foothill Drive: CHP

Police said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and they saw an alcohol bottle in his car.

SUNOL, CA — A man died in a solo crash on Foothill Road in Sunol Monday night, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 10:25 p.m., CHP officers responded to reports of a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado crashed into a tree. The driver was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat, without a pulse. Paramedics arrived and declared the driver, a 39-year-old man from Stockton, dead on the scene.

The man was not wearing a seatbelt, and police say they saw an alcohol bottle in the car. The crash remains under investigation.

No other cars or vehicles were involved, CHP said.

Foothill Road has been the site of numerous solo crashes with trees, notably in April when an electric vehicle crashed into a tree, killing an entire family.
