PLEASANTON, CA —Aquaman visited Pleasanton, and he came with a drink created from pure mountain water.

Jason Momoa, the Hawaiian hunk best known for his roles in “Aquaman”, “Game of Thrones,” “Fast X” and “Dune,” visited Pleasanton’s Rubys & Roses Restaurant to discuss their upcoming use of his vodka line, Meili Vodka. Mamoa and actor Blaine Halverson co-founded the line together, and are on tour across California promoting their brand. On Saturday, they visited the Safeway in Danville, then went to the Whole Foods in Oakland. Patch reached out to Safeway for further information on his visit there.

In Pleasanton, Momoa enjoyed a private meal of short rib street noodles, blackened salmon and chicken Marsala while discussing the upcoming launch with restaurant owners Sadaf Shaghasi and Omar Etemadi, Shaghasi told Patch. The restaurant is currently serving Meili, which makes eco-friendly vodka that “exhibits a bright, smooth, and effortless flavor,” on its specials menu, but plans to include it on its permanent menu in about a week, Shaghasi said. The restaurant is soon launching a new drink menu with Meili and tropical drinks, and their alcohol distributor arranged a private meeting with Momoa.

The vodka, made with locally-sourced grains and pure mountain water, is also available online at liquor stores throughout the country, usually for around $25.

Momoa is not the first celebrity to stop by Pleasanton to promote their liquor. In June 2022, “Breaking Bad” actors Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul visited Gene’s Fine Foods to sign bottles of “Dos Hombres,” their mezcal drink. In September 2021, actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley, known for their roles as the Salvatore Brothers in “Vampire Diaries,” came to Gene’s to sign bottles of their bourbon brand, Brother’s Bond Bourbon.
