PLEASANTON, CA — John Madden's grandson Jesse is keeping up the family tradition. Madden, 21, will serve as an offensive quality control coach for the Washington Commanders, according to reports.

Madden is the third eldest of John Madden's five grandchildren, according to the Bay Area News Group. He grew up in Pleasanton and attended Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland.

In 2021, he attended the University of Michigan, where he initially played quarterback, then played defensive back. His team won the CFP National Championship Game. This is his first job out of college, according to reports.

John Madden Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster who became one of the most recognizable voices on television over several decades. He and his wife Virginia moved to Pleasanton in 1967, and were active in the community. In 2009, the couple helped preserve an important staple in the community, the Augustine Bernal Adobe, a historic home against the foothills, Pleasanton Weekly reported.

The old adobe home was the place where Madden retreated after long trips to the south, Midwest and East Coast during football seasons.

Madden retired in 2009, and died in 2021.
