Livermore-Pleasanton Firefighters Help Fight SoCal Wildfires

PLEASANTON, CA — Firefighters from the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department are helping fight the devastating wildfires in Southern California.

As of Jan. 7, the department deployed Engine OES340 as part of a strike team along four other Monterey County engines to combat the Palisades Fire, which has burned nearly 24,000 acres, and destroyed at least 10,000 structures near Pacific Palisades as of Monday. The department also deployed an engine to support the fight against the Eaton Fire, which has burned over 14,000 acres and destroyed roughly 5,000 structures around Pasadena. The fires have killed at least 25 people, and put 92,000 people in Los Angeles County under evacuation orders.

The Palisades Fire is just 14% contained as of Monday, and the Eaton Fire is 27% contained, according CalFire and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The crews are joining more than 7,500 emergency personnel fighting the fires, according to CalFire. Numerous teams from the Bay Area have also joined the fight, including fire departments from Alameda County, the city of Alameda, Oakland, Hayward, Fremont, San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento, and more from Napa, Contra Costa, and San Mateo counties.
