Family Of 4 Dead Following Fiery Foothill Road Crash: Reports
Police confirmed that an entire family - a father, mother, and two young children - died in a crash.
PLEASANTON, CA — Pleasanton police confirmed to numerous outlets Thursday that a family of four, including two children, were killed in a crash Wednesday night on Foothill Road.
Police told The San Francisco Chronicle that the victims were a mother, father, and two children under 15, who crashed at a spot where two lanes merge into one after a sharp curve. When medical staff arrived, three family members were likely already dead, and staff attempted to save one of the children, police told The Chronicle.
The Pleasanton Police Department is withholding the names pending notification of next of kin.

Pleasanton police said Thursday morning on social media that “multiple fatalities” had occurred due to a single-vehicle crash Wednesday night, but that they would not release any further information until the investigation was complete and families were notified. The area around Foothill Road and Moeller Ranch Drive was closed in both directions from about 9:35 p.m. until about 7:30 a.m. Thursday, according to ABC7.
Video from the scene shows that a car struck a pole before hitting a tree and bursting into flames, according to a KRON4 report. The scene was covered in flame-retardant foam, according to KRON4 and witness reports on Nextdoor.
Police told The San Francisco Chronicle that speed may have been a factor, but do not believe that alcohol and/or foul play contributed.
Residents noted on social media that many drivers speed down Foothill Road, which is curvy and filled with trees. The road has seen numerous fatal crashes over the years, including a Christmas night crash in 2019 that killed two teenage brothers and their friend.
