PLEASANTON, CA — Chick-fil-A will open its second Pleasanton location Thursday at 4501 Hopyard Road, the former location of Sweet Tomatoes.

The new location will be open Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is open for dine-in and carry-out. It joins more than 22 other locations across the Bay Area, and will be the third location in the Tri-Valley. One location exists on 5785 Johnson Drive in Pleasanton, near the BART station and just south of I-580, and 1754 N. Livermore Avenue in Livermore, also just south of 580. Chick-fil-A recently submitted two pre-applications for locations in Hacienda Crossing, but both have since been withdrawn, according to Dublin spokesperson Shari Jackman.

The newest Pleasanton franchise will be owned and operated by Aaron Clifford, a Watsonville native who owns and operates the other Pleasanton location. The newest location will bring approximately 35 full and part-time jobs to Pleasanton, according to the company. To celebrate the new opening, Chick-fil-A donated $25,000 to Feeding America, which will help meals be distributed across the region. It will also participate in the Chick-fil-A Shared Table program, which gives surplus food to local food banks and nonprofits, and will recognize 100 local heroes making a positive difference in the community with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year.

The new location will not have a drive-thru, Chick-fil-A confirmed. Pleasanton spokesperson Heather Tiernan told Pleasanton Weekly that it will feature improvements like a new trash enclosure, a new ADA-compliant sidewalk from Hopyard Road, and a new outdoor patio dining area. The city’s traffic engineer determined that the project would not create worsened traffic or pedestrian safety issues, Tiernan said.
