Pleasanton City Council Approves New Housing Development

PLEASANTON, CA — The Pleasanton City Council voted unanimously Tuesday night to approve a new housing development that will provide 87 single-family homes, city officials said.

The project covers roughly 15 acres over three parcels. The developer will also donate 1.64 acres of land and $1 million to the city for the future development of Sunflower Hill, an affordable multi-housing residential community for adults with special needs, city officials said.

Pleasanton director of community development Gerry Beaudin said the vote came after years of planning, several revisions and much deliberation on the proposal.

"This project has gone through several iterations and it offers an amenity-rich environment with new public open air space, a new streetscape and enhancements to the Arroyo," Beaudin said in a statement. "It also
satisfies an unmet need by creating affordable housing opportunities for special needs adults."
