Pleasanton Gets Temporary Fire Station On Stoneridge Drive
Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Station 3 will be rebuilt after nearly 50 years.

PLEASANTON, CA — Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Station 3 will be rebuilt after 50 years of service.
Firefighters moved this week into a temporary station at Stoneridge and Rheem drives so construction can begin on a new, two-story, 8,800-square foot fire station at the same site as Fire Station 3 (3200 Santa Rita Road).
The current building is in need of seismic repairs, underground repairs and more, and a study determined that it made more financial sense to replace the structure. In all, the project is anticipated to cost $9 million, which includes a $7 million construction contract awarded to Mar Con Builders in Oakland.

Construction should wrap up by the end of the year, said Steve Kirkpatrick, the city's engineering director.
The historic bell kept in front of the station will be on display at the new building, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said in a news release. It was used to call volunteer firefighters in the late 1800s.

Fire Station 3 was built in 1969 and initially used as community hub where movies were screened and a pre-school opened, according to the city and fire department. Firefighters moved into the building when the fire department grew large enough that the station could be staffed.
