Pleasanton Man Charged With Murdering His Mother
Malcolm Tilley is charged with murdering his mother; she is remembered as a kind community volunteer, according to Pleasanton Weekly.
PLEASANTON, CA — Malcolm Tilley, a 31-year-old Pleasanton man who was arrested after telling Pleasanton police that he stabbed his 71-year-old mother to death, has been charged with first-degree murder and several other special allegations and sentencing enhancements, according to Alameda Superior Court records. He is also charged with inflicting serious bodily injury with a deadly weapon, which if proven could significantly extend his sentence.
Tilley has been held without bail at Santa Rita Jail since April 1, when he arrived at a Pleasanton Police Department station at 5:45 p.m. and told them he had stabbed his mother to death. According to a police report obtained by Pleasanton Weekly, Tilley told them he had returned home from picking up groceries, and his mother Marjory began to berate him.
“Tilley said she continued to berate him without stopping. He said he had enough and retrieved two knives from a knife block to his left next to the sink,” PPD Officer Jonathan Chin wrote in the report, which noted Tilley felt consistently degraded by the woman he refused to call his mother. He reportedly stabbed her in the neck “countless times.” He considered trying to clean it up, but decided to walk a mile and a half to the police station to turn himself in.
