Pleasanton Man Killed in SF Construction Accident

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the death of an electrician in San Francisco's South Beach neighborhood last week, officials said today.

The electrician, who has been identified by the San Francisco medical examiner as 45-year-old Mose Bamont of Pleasanton, was found unconscious by co-workers at a construction site in the 200 block of Main Street around 2:45 p.m., according to police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Bamont, an employee of San Francisco-based Metropolitan Electrical Construction, was doing electrical work at the time as part of renovations on the second and third floor of the Charles Schwab building at 211 Main St., according to Cal/OSHA spokeswoman Jules Bernstein.

Bamont is presumed to have died of electrocution, but the cause and circumstances of his death remain under investigation.

A call to Metropolitan Electrical Construction was not immediately returned this afternoon.
