Pleasanton Street Dirt Bike Crashes Into SUV, 2 Teens Injured: PPD

PLEASANTON, CA — Two teens riding an illegal electric dirt bike crashed into an SUV in Pleasanton last Tuesday, according to the Pleasanton Police Department.

The teens were traveling at approximately 30 MPH on the east sidewalk of Santa Rita Road when they collided with an SUV exiting a nearby parking lot, police said in a news release. One of the teens suffered a laceration in his leg, but a PPD officer applied a tourniquet. The teen needed emergency surgery to stop the bleeding, but both are expected to recover, according to the release.

Many electric dirt bikes like the Talaria Sting brand involved here, or Surron, are not street legal and pose significant safety risks. See here for full California regulations.
