Pleasanton Votes To Appoint Residents To Committees & Commissions

The City council took a vote to appoint city residents to committee and commission positions throughout the city of Pleasanton.

From Pleasanton City Council: The City Council voted tonight to appoint a number of residents to serve on the following commissions and committees:

Civic Arts Commission—promotes the acquisition, construction and installation of public art throughout the city and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding the city’s civic arts program

• Stephanie Wedge-Bonde, Varsha Nene, John Casey, Jeanne Farley-Rodgers Energy and the Environment Committee—supports the city’s Climate Action Plan and provides input on the drought and water conservation measures

• Sonia Verma, Catherine Brown, Terry Chang, Laurene Green, Olivia Angus Housing Commission—reviews affordable housing agreements with developers and helps to select nonprofits to receive Community Development Block Grant money to provide local housing services

• Alyx MacTernan Human Services Commission—advises the City Council on human service needs of community and fulfillment methods, with a particular emphasis on serving economically disadvantaged elderly and youth

• Varsha Clare Library Commission—advises City Council on library related matters and promotes library programs and services in the community

• Harinder Grewal, Larry Damaser Parks and Recreation Commission—advises City Council and others on matters related to the development and provision of services pertaining to parks, recreation facilities and promotes programs and services in the community

• Brad Hottle, Deborah Wahl, Bryan Bowers, Charles Deckert Planning Commission—prepares, adopts and administers General Plan, specific plans and makes recommendations to the City Council regarding certain amendments to the zoning ordinance, among other issues and items

• Herb Ritter Youth Commission—Advises City Council on youth-related issues and promotes civic engagement amongst youth in the community

• Taylor Sowers, Nishant Jain, Arushi Avachat Recruiting for commissions and committees occurs twice a year, in the spring and fall. Terms vary for each of the commissions and committees, though typically are four-year terms with a two-term maximum.
