STEAM Preschool Celebrates One Year

The STEAM Preschool is a progressive school for young learners to explore all areas of the curriculum to explore and learn new things.

From Pleasanton School District: Serving Pleasanton’s youngest learners and explorers, the Pleasanton Unified School District’s STEAM Preschool is celebrating one year since opening its doors in January 2016. As one of the only preschools in California that integrates science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) into all aspects of the learning experience, STEAM Preschool has had serious growth over the last year.

Over the last year, STEAM Preschool’s enrollment has grown by more than 300% to date. “Children learn best when they are allowed to explore, experiment, and try new things,” said Shannon Colacchia, STEAM Preschool Lead. “We put this philosophy into practice and parents are seeing results.”

The STEAM Preschool is a progressive, ground-breaking program using Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics concepts in all areas of its curriculum. The preschool infuses its daily schedule with hands-on opportunities to build on the natural curiosity of their young explorers. Through project-based, inquiry-driven activities, students discover the world around them while learning literacy, problem solving skills, and collaboration techniques. The children will construct their own learning using critical thinking, creativity, and innovation.
