Theft of Work Vehicles on the Rise in One Tri-Valley City
Can you guess what color vehicle thieves tend to prefer?

LIVERMORE, CA: Police said Friday that the number of thefts of work vehicles in Livermore has increased since the fall of last year. Between Oct. 1 of last year and March 31 of this year, 24 work vehicles have been stolen. Police said most of the vehicles stolen are Ford vans or trucks with commercial signs on them. The vehicles also may have had either visible toolboxes or utility/lumber racks on them.
Most of the stolen vehicles were made during the model years of 2002 to 2006. Police said about 90 percent of the vehicles were locked when they were stolen. Thieves stole white vehicles more than vehicles of any other color. The thefts occurred in commercial and residential areas and at hotels and motels, police said.
Officers recover many of these vehicles, but rarely recovered are the tools and equipment that were with them. Also, the vehicles' license plates are often stolen, according to police.
