CHP officers pursued the suspect, Denzal Sirus Arland Ashford-Green, after he allegedly failed to stop at 7:50 p.m. Friday when officers tried to pull him over on northbound state Highway 13 in Oakland for not having license plates, CHP officials said. A CHP aircraft was involved in the chase, following the suspect's Mercedes-Benz onto northbound Interstate Highway 680, northbound state Highway 242 and then eastbound state Highway 4.
The Mercedes then exited the highway at Bailey Road in Pittsburg, where local police officers had placed spike strips that were successful in helping stop the vehicle in the area of Leland Road and Railroad Avenue, according to the CHP.
