We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Poway.

POWAY, CA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We're working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

Retired flight test engineer.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

Disabled Vietnam Veteran. Past Boy Scout leader. Member of Poway C.E.R.T (Community Emergency Response Team), PNEC (Poway Neighborhood Emergency Corp-area 32 coordinator), and PACT (Poway Auxiliary Communication Team-Ham Radio). Assists military personnel transition into civilian lives, Mentors with the Wounded Warrier program. President of the local chapter of Corp Retirees Club. Volunteer displays group USS Midway Museum. BOD VAW-VRC Foundation, (401c supports the active military aircraft platform), and was recently inducted into the Hall of Honor to this foundation. Attitude: "The more a person does, the more a person can do."

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

His attitude is "life is good" and be careful not to criticize unless one has a possible solution.
