Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Into Tree In Ramona

The 54-year-old man was from San Marcos, according to the CHP.

RAMONA, CA — A motorcyclist was killed after crashing into a tree in Ramona, authorities said.

The fatal crash happened around 12:20 p.m. June 7 when a man was riding westbound on a 2023 Kawasaki motorcycle on state Route 78, east of Casner Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. The 54-year-old man from San Marcos was driving at an unknown speed.

"For reasons still under investigation, the rider crossed onto the south shoulder and collided with a tree near the intersection of Casner Road," Officer Jared Grieshaber said. "As a result of the crash, the rider sustained fatal injuries."

The crash remains under investigation. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash, Grieshaber said.
