RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — The biggest storm to hit Southern California this year drenched Mission Viejo and Orange County this week, causing floods, mudslides and crashes across the region.
Over the last three days, Rancho Santa Margarita got a total of 3.27 inches of rain according to OC Public Works.
Most of Orange County’s coastline saw between 1 and 3 inches of rain during the storm this week. Coto de Caza and Upper Silverado Canyon saw between 5 to 6 inches.

Mount San Antonio in the San Gabriel Mountains logged the most rain in the county, recording 6.27 inches of rain, according to NWS. The Eaton fire burn scar area saw around 4 inches of rain and the Palisades fire burn scar area saw around 2 inches.
Most of OC’s coastline saw between 1 and 5 inches of rain during the storm this week. John Wayne Airport saw 1.24 inches of rain while the Santa Ana Mountains saw between 2 to 8 inches.

Coto de Caza logged the most amount of rain of the Orange County coastal areas, recording 5.24 inches of rain, according to NWS. The airport fire burn scar area saw nearly 3 inches of rain.
The recent storm brought a variety of dramatic weather conditions throughout the county, including a major mudslide that swept up an SUV into the ocean and a collapsed roof at a Smart & Final in Azusa. including evacuations in OC canyon communities due to possibilities of heavy debris flow.
