The current posted limits are being lowered on 45 segments as a result of an updated engineering and traffic survey measuring the speed of vehicles on RSM roadways, according to the city. No speed limits are increasing as a result of the study, the city said.

Rancho Santa Margarita Police Services officers will help educate drivers by issuing warning citations for motorists who exceed the new reduced speed limit by 10 miles per hour or less.
