Street Work Near RSM May Result In Closures, Delays

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, CA — Look alive, Rancho Santa Margarita. Paving work in Mission Viejo along stretches of Santa Margarita Parkway takes place Thursday through Monday, and residents can expect lane closures and traffic delays on several different intersections of the street throughout construction.

The work is a part of a street-improvement project designed to help extend the life of the busy arterial street.

Here's what you need to look out for if you're driving through Mission Viejo over the next handful of days:

On Thursday, residents can expect lane closures from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Rancho Santa Margarita Parkway between Pinecrest and Los Alisos Boulevard. Following Thursday, Friday will see lane closures in effect from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the street between Monterey and the western city limit of Mission Viejo, near Rancho Santa Margarita.

Saturday construction work takes place between Marguerite and Mission Viejo's western city limit, near Lake Forest, with lane closures starting at 6 a.m. and carrying on throughout the day. On Monday, construction takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Santa Margarita Parkway between Los Alisos Boulevard and Mission Viejo's western city limit, near Lake Forest.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area if possible and use Marguerite Parkway, Los Alisos Boulevard and Mustang Run to access commercial centers.

According to the City of Mission Viejo, lane closures east of Marguerite Parkway could extend later than 4:30 p.m. because of paving operations. If possible, afternoon commuters from Trabuco Hills High School should use Los Alisos Boulevard and Mustang Run, the city said.
