$155k Traffic Safety Grant Awarded To RBPD To Support Enforcement
The Redondo Beach Police Department was awarded a $155,000 grant to support traffic violation enforcement and education.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The Redondo Beach Police Department was awarded a $155,000 grant to support enforcement and education programs to reduce injuries and deaths on roads.
“This funding will strengthen our commitment to public safety in our community,” Redondo Beach Police Officer J. Holley said. “We will be able to increase our efforts in making our roads safer for everyone and focus on critical areas such as distracted driving, impaired driving and speeding.”
The California Office of Traffic Safety grant will provide additional programs and resources including:

- DUI checkpoints and patrols to stop impaired drivers;
- Distracted driving enforcement targeting people who use their phones while driving;
- Dangerous driving enforcement targeting people who put the safety of pedestrians and bikers at risk;
- Traffic violation enforcement focused on speeding, stop sign and red-light running and improper turning;
- Community presentations on traffic safety issues;
- Collaborative enforcement with neighboring cities;
- Officer training and recertification.
The grant will run through September 2024.
