5-Year-Old Injured in Crash in Desperate Need of Blood
Torrance PD is putting out the call, especially to those who have A- and O- blood.

Blood donations are needed for the 5-year-old boy that was seriously injured in a traffic collision at Newton and Madison Streets Wednesday.
A- and O- blood is needed at Harbor UCLA Medical Center (1000 W. Carson St, Torrance). More information can be obtained at (323) 396-5576.
One of two children struck as they crossed an intersection in Torrance remained in critical condition today, authorities said.

The victims, an 11-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, were in a crosswalk when they were struck at the intersection of Newton and Madison streets around 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, Torrance police Lt. Mark Underwood said.
The boy suffered major injuries, a Torrance police sergeant said. The girl suffered minor injuries.

According to Underwood, a Chevrolet Sonic was turning eastbound onto Newton Street when it struck the victims.
The driver, who stopped at the scene, was not injured, according to Underwood. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, he said.
