CARSON, CA — More than 70 teens were detained over the weekend during a large-scale disturbance at the SouthBay Pavilion Mall, according to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department's Carson Station.
Deputies responded to the mall Saturday night where they found approximately 200 juveniles, a trash can lit on fire and illegal fireworks set off inside a store at the mall. Authorities issued a dispersal order, but the group refused to comply, Carson deputies said.
It took approximately five hours for deputies to get the juveniles to leave, Carson Sheriff's Station Sgt. K. Ay told City News Service.

Recently, teen mobs have targeted other malls in the South Bay. The Del Amo Fashion Center has been a frequent target for some of the largest teen gatherings, often topping 1,000 and prompting police to shut down the mall and surrounding traffic.
As a result, teens at Del Amo Fashion Center aren't allowed to be alone at the mall on Friday and Saturday afternoons after 3 p.m. due to new regulations that went into action earlier this year.
