Blotter: Bar Stool Assault

Officers from the Redondo Beach Police Department dealt with a bar fight, stolen motorcycles and a hit-and-run, among other incidents, during the week of Jan. 16, according to the Recent Law Enforcement Events news release.

Three people were arrested on assault charges after they attacked each other with bar stools at the on Jan. 17.

Officers arrived at the bar within minutes of hearing reports of a fight inside, police said. While officers searched the three people detained, they found a loaded handgun magazine was found in one man's pocket.
The man told officers that he hid a handgun outside the bar when he saw the police pull up, authorities said. Officers found the gun and another loaded magazine for the same weapon inside the bar.

The three people detained were arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, and the man with the handgun was charged with illegally carrying a concealed firearm.
Hit-and-Run
A driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run and driving under the influence Jan. 19, after the person's white van collided with another car in the 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard, injuring two people, police said.
An officer discovered the white van parked near Dow and Burritt avenues, police said. The driver was still inside.
Would-be burglar tussles with victim
Police spent part of Jan. 20 searching for a woman accused of rummaging through an unlocked car in the 600 block of the Esplanade.
After the car's owner spotted her, the woman confronted him, and the two struggled for control of a bag she was holding, police said.
The bag fell, and the woman fled in a waiting vehicle, police said. Officers were unable to find her.
Stolen motorcycles
Police are searching for the person who stole two KTM motorcycles from the parking lot at 230 The Village overnight Jan. 16. The motorcycles were chained together in the garage, police said.
