Blotter: Burglars Break Into ATM

The following information was supplied by the Redondo Beach Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Over the last week, officers from the investigated a commercial burglary, several vehicle burglaries and stolen vehicles, according to the department's Part I crime recap covering July 3 through Wednesday.

Commercial burglary

Burglars broke into an ATM in a business in the 800 block of South Pacific Coast Highway by forcing a piece of board through the business' front window between July 3 and 4. In addition to ransacking the place and damaging three inactive security cameras, the burglars used a cutting tool to open the ATM and steal cash; however, officers don't know how much was stolen, police said.

Vehicle burglaries

Someone tried to break into a 1992 Honda Civic parked in the 600 block of Beryl Street through the driver's side door lock on Wednesday, but was apparently scared off by the car's alarm. No loss was reported.

On Saturday evening, a Cannondale bicycle was stolen from a Toyota 4Runner in the 2500 block of Rockefeller Lane. Police are not sure how the thief got into the car.

A burglar smashed the window of a 2011 Porsche Cayenne S in the 2000 block of Spyer Lane in North Redondo Beach on July 5. The thief took a Coach purse that contained cash and an iPhone.

Stolen vehicles

A 1997 Chevrolet Astro van, license No. 5R22654, was stolen Tuesday night or Wednesday morning from the 26000 block of Rockefeller Lane.

A 1993 Honda Accord, license No. 6FTY391, was stolen between Monday night and Tuesday morning from the 2900 block of Inglewood Avenue.

A 1988 Toyota SR-5 pickup truck, license No. 3N21304, was stolen Sunday night from the 2400 block of Harriman Lane.

At some point on July 3, a 2006 Carson box trailer, license No. 4GU7530, was stolen from the 700 block of North Catalina Avenue. Inside the truck were two motorcycles—a 2007 Honda CRF250R and a 2007 Honda CRF150R, license No. 11T15C.
