Blotter: Infant Dies, Missing Man Found

Officers from the tried to save an infant and found a missing man last week, according to the Recent Law Enforcement events release.
Infant dies
Despite efforts by officers and paramedics, a two-week-old baby who had recently undergone open-heart surgery died last week.

According to a release from the police department, police and fire department units responded to a call about a half hour after midnight May 2 in the 600 block of the Esplanade about an infant not breathing.
Paramedics transported the infant to a nearby hospital, and he was pronounced dead by the attending physician, police said. The infant's body was released to his family for burial.

Missing man found
Police officers spent more than an hour searching the Redondo Beach Pier, Esplanade, Catalina Avenue, Riviera Village and the Strand bike path Sunday afternoon for an 86-year-old man suffering from mild Alzheimers syndrome.
Police got the call shortly after 3:30 p.m. The man, who was not identified, disappeared from the 1700 block of the Esplanade. He was later found in Palos Verdes.
