Blotter: Police Seek Shaver Thieves

The investigated a robbery, multiple burglaries—commercial, residential and vehicle—and car thefts over the last week, according to the department's Part I crime recap covering June 14 through Wednesday.

Commercial robbery

Police are looking for two people who robbed the on Hawthorne Boulevard last Friday. The culprits, described as a black woman in her 40s and a black man in his 40s standing 5 feet 10 inches and weighing about 230 pounds, hid electric shavers under their clothes.

When employees confronted them, one of the perpetrators flashed a knife before the pair fled in a burgundy 2000 Toyota Camry.

Commercial burglaries

Police arrested Patrick Cory Callinan on suspicion of breaking into a business on Portofino Way by prying open the southeast window Friday evening. No loss was reported.

Reginald Smith was arrested Friday afternoon on suspicion of using a fake account to buy merchandise at . While he was leaving the business, officers stopped and arrested him. No loss was reported.

A person tried to break into a business in the 1100 block of South Pacific Coast Highway at about 3 a.m. Friday by smashing one of the windows. No loss was reported.

One of the businesses in the 400 block of North Pacific Coast Highway was broken into twice within the last two weeks. The first occurred at some point between 7:30 p.m. June 11 and 8:30 a.m. June 12, while the second happened after 11 p.m. on June 14. Police don't know how the thief got in the first time; however, the culprit forced the rear door in the second incident. The person stole cash and the cash register.

Someone stole cash and an iPod from a business in the 1400 block of South Pacific Coast Highway last Friday morning. The person got in by forcing the door handle.

A would-be thief smashed in the front door of a business in the 400 block of South Pacific Coast Highway late last Thursday night or early Friday morning. No loss was reported.

Between the hours of 10 p.m. June 13 and 7:15 a.m. June 14, someone smashed the glass in the front door of a business in the 900 block of North Pacific Coast Highway and stole cash.

Police arrested Lachelle Marie Vandeveer on suspicion of shoplifting from the Target near the on June 13. According to police, she walked into the business, put merchandise in her bag and walked out without paying. No loss was reported.

Residential burglaries

A person tried to walk into a house in the 2600 block of 190th Street late last Saturday evening through an unlocked door; however, the would-be burglar ran away when someone inside called out. No loss was reported.

On the same day, at least one person tried to enter a house in the 1600 block of Stanford Avenue through a rear bedroom window. No loss was reported.

Vehicle burglaries

Someone broke into a 2007 Cadillac Escalade parked at the South Bay Galleria on Saturday morning and stole the SUV's third-row seats.

At some point between 6:30 p.m. June 13 and 8 a.m. June 14, a person cut the convertible top and broke into a 1990 Chrysler LeBaron parked in the 2400 block of Artesia Boulevard. No loss was reported.

Stolen vehicles

A 1995 green Toyota Tercel was stolen from the 1000 block of Avenue B at some point between late Monday evening and early Tuesday morning. Redondo officers recovered the vehicle Tuesday.

A red 2007 Suzuki Forenza, license plate No. 6LZJ659, was stolen Monday afternoon from the 300 block of the Esplanade.

A red 2001 Dodge Ram pickup, license No. BR46722, was stolen at some point before 8:30 a.m. Friday last week.

The Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Division recovered a silver 2010 Land Rover stolen from the 900 block of North Pacific Coast Highway on June 14, the same day the vehicle was taken.

Law enforcement agents in Santa Fe Springs on June 14 recovered a black 1997 Honda Civic taken from the 1900 block of Ernest Avenue at some point between 2 p.m. June 13 and 2:15 a.m. June 14.
