Blotter: Robbery, Vandalism, Burglaries

The following information was supplied by the Redondo Beach and Torrance police departments. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The investigated a robbery and multiple burglaries, among others, according to the department's Part I crime recap covering reports received Aug. 2 through last Wednesday.

In addition, the Torrance Police Department took reports on a handful of incidents in the Hollywood Riviera during the week of July 24 and last Sunday, according to its weekly crime recaps.

Robbery in North Redondo Beach

Two men robbed a Rite-Aid in the 1700 block of Aviation Boulevard in North Redondo Beach at gunpoint shortly before 12:30 a.m. Aug. 1. They escaped with an unknown amount of cash.

Witnesses described the first culprit as a 5-foot-11-inch tall black man weighing about 140 pounds. The second robber was only described as a 5-foot-6-inch tall black man.

Theft in the Hollywood Riviera

Someone stole a locked bicycle parked in the 300 block of Palos Verdes Boulevard at some point between 5 p.m. Aug. 1 and 5 p.m. Aug. 2.

Commercial burglary in North Redondo Beach

Someone stole money and calling cards from the Arco gas station in the 2700 block of Marine Avenue in North Redondo Beach at about 3:17 a.m. Aug. 4.

Attempted residential burglary in South Redondo Beach

Someone removed the screen from a partially open bedroom window; however, someone inside the residence heard the burglar and yelled that she would call police. The burglar fled, and no loss was reported.

Residential burglaries in Redondo Beach

Someone walked into an open garage in the 500 block of North Elena Avenue and stole two bicycles at some point between 9:30 p.m. Aug. 3 and 2:30 a.m. Aug. 4.

A wallet and cash were stolen from a nightstand in a victim's bedroom in the 2000 block of Perry Avenue at some point between July 31 and Aug. 1.

Residential burglary in the Hollywood Riviera

Police are trying to determine how someone entered a home in the 300 block of Via Anita at about 3 p.m. July 29 and stole jewelry.

Vehicle burglaries in Redondo Beach

The third-row seat was stolen from a 2005 GMC Yukon parked in the 2200 block of Robinson Street at some point between 11:30 p.m. Sunday and 1:30 p.m. Monday. The burglar got in by punching out the lock on the driver's side door.

Someone punched out the driver's side door lock of a 2006 Cadillac Escalade in the 1500 block of Phelan Lane at some point between the evening of Aug. 2 and the morning of Aug. 3. The SUV's third-row seat was stolen.

Police aren't sure how someone entered a locked 2002 Ford Focus parked in the 600 block of North Prospect Avenue between the evening of Aug. 3 and the morning of Aug. 4. The burglar stole a textbook and an Acer notebook computer.

Someone punched out the driver's side door lock and ransacked a 2007 Chevy Tahoe parked in the lot at the between 7:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. July 31. No loss was reported.

Stolen vehicles

Police are searching for a white 1986 Toyota SR-S, license No. 4R93690, stolen from the 2500 block of 184th Street on Aug. 4.

A gray 2005 Chevrolet Impala, license No. 5PMB237, from the 2000 block of Inglewood Avenue on the morning of Aug. 4.

A gold 1991 Honda Accord stolen from the 2500 block of Ruhland Avenue on July 8 was recovered Aug. 1 by the Los Angeles Police Department's Harbor Division.

Vandalism in the Hollywood Riviera

Someone threw eggs at a vehicle parked in the lot of the shopping center at Calle Mayor and Pacific Coast Highway shortly after 10:30 p.m. Aug. 3.
