Calabasas Sex Offender Sentenced to 58 Years for Posing As Undercover Cop, Raping South Bay Woman

TORRANCE, CA - A convicted sex offender who posed as an undercover police officer and raped a woman in Torrance was sentenced today to 58 years to life in state prison.

Guy Allen Dietz, 45, of Calabasas, lured the victim to a home in Torrance on Aug. 28, 2014, and showed her a badge and handcuffs while claiming to be an undercover police officer, according to court testimony.

The woman eventually escaped and reported the rape.

Authorities began looking for Dietz, and a California Highway Patrol unit spotted him near King City the next day. Dietz led CHP officers and Monterey County sheriff's deputies on a pursuit to Soledad, where he ditched his vehicle and ran.

He was eventually spotted walking down a street in Soledad and arrested hours later.

At the time of the crime, Dietz was free on bail on a charge of failing to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of rape in 1998 and drug-related offenses in 2005 and 2010.

In the latest case, he was convicted Jan. 28 of one count each of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by a foreign object, rape by threat to arrest or deport, oral copulation under threat to arrest and sexual penetration under threat to intimidation, according to Deputy District Attorney Frank Dunnick.
