Charity Brings Cheer to Children

Cheer for Children brought plenty of smiles to children's faces at  on Dec. 8, and it plans to continue the tradition throughout the holiday season.

The South Bay organization, which is nonprofit and all-volunteer, hosts seasonal parties at Harbor UCLA Medical Center for acutely ill children and their families.

Cheer for Children also helps local families that need temporary assistance with food donations, warm clothing, shoes and gift certificates for haircuts. Through its "adopt a family" program, the organization provides gifts, shoes and gas cards during the holidays for families in need.

Volunteers who would like to help wrap presents for the families and children can do so Thursday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the  in Redondo Beach.
