City Calls for Submissions for 2012 Coin
This year's Redondo Beach commemorative coin will focus on the Vitality City movement.
Got talent? Redondo Beach is inviting residents and artists of all ages to submit designs for the city's commemorative coin for 2012.
This year's theme focuses on Redondo Beach as a Vitality City. The three Beach Cities are part of a Healthways-Blue Zones Vitality City initiative, which focuses on improving the well-being of residents "to create healthier, happier and more productive citizens," according to a news release from the city.
"[The program] uses permanent, evidence-based environmental and policy changes to help people adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles," according to the news release. "It aims to make the Redondo Beach community more walkable, bike-able, healthy and socially engaged."
