City Offices to Close for Week

Redondo Beach will close its nonessential city offices from Friday through Jan. 2 as a cost-saving measure.

The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is often slow, so the city of Redondo Beach will close its offices from Friday until Jan. 2 as a cost-saving measure, according to a news release from the city.

"With the holiday season being our slowest in terms of city administrative offices, and local businesses taking a much-deserved break after the hustle and bustle of the holiday rush, the City Council and I felt we were presented with an opportunity to conserve resources without creating any significant impacts upon the services staff provides to residents and businesses," Mayor Mike Gin said in a statement.

There will be no street sweeping from Friday through Jan. 2. According to a statement posted on the city's website, police will not be ticketing people for violating street-sweeping parking rules. Street sweeping will begin again Jan. 3.
