City, School Board Closer to Land Swap
Redondo Beach city officials and school board members discuss a proposed land swap and joint-use agreements.

Redondo Beach city and officials continued to make progress on a proposed land swap and joint use agreements at a joint planning session at the on Tuesday morning.
The meeting was the second between the two governing bodies within the past year. During the last meeting, held in October, city and school officials embarked mapped out a path to finalizing a swap of the Franklin school property—home of the —and the building at 200 N. Pacific Coast Highway, which the city would like to use as a new police station, as well as joint-use agreements regarding parking lots, sewer fees and electrical meters.
Officials agreed in principle to five conditions of the land swap: renewing the 99-year leases for the two properties; keeping Franklin Park a park; exchanging the Franklin school property for 200 N. Pacific Coast Hwy. in as-is condition; including $1 million for Redondo Beach Unified School District as part of the deal; and giving the school district 75 parking spaces at 200 N. Pacific Coast Hwy.

Attendees also mapped out a proposed timeline for approval of the joint-use agreements.
The next joint meeting will be held May 15 from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. before the City Council meeting at .
