Cuts Force Housing Authority to Reduce Counter Hours

The counter for the Redondo Beach Housing Authority will only be open Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Redondo Beach Housing Authority has reduced its counter hours for the public and Section 8 participants, thanks to the elimination of funding through the city's now-defunct redevelopment agency.

According to a notice posted on the city's website, the counter will only be open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Those who wish to visit the office when the counter is closed should call 310-318-0635 to schedule an appointment.

People are also welcome to stop by during normal business hours to use the self-service lobby, which provides forms, pens, paper and supplies, as well as confidential drop boxes so people can leave messages, questions and information.

"We do not expect that our new counter hours will negatively affect our program participants," the Housing Authority stated in a notice on its website. "Our staff will still be available by phone throughout the day, and we will still be answering our own extensions as calls come through (whenever we are in our offices and without clients)."
