Parents Find Hidden Cameras In South Bay Dance Studio Bathrooms

The cameras were found on Saturday at a dance school in the 1100 block of Aviation Boulevard, police said.

HERMOSA BEACH, CA — Hermosa Beach police are investigating after multiple cameras were found in the bathrooms of a local dance and music school.

Parents of students at the school in the 1100 block of Aviation Boulevard found the cameras, removed them and turned them in to the dance studio staff, according to the Hermosa Beach Police Department.

Dance studio staff then contacted police, who responded around 9:30 a.m. to the studio and learned that hidden cameras had been placed in multiple bathrooms, according to a press release by the HBPD.

It's unclear who placed the cameras in the bathroom, which police is unisex and used by staff, parents and students. However, the HBPD emphasized that this appears to be an isolated incident.

"We understand the concern this incident may cause in our community — particularly among parents and families — and we want to assure residents that we are addressing this matter with the utmost seriousness," the HBPD said in a statement Monday.

The HBPD said it is looking into all available leads and will hold accountable whoever is responsible for the "disturbing act."

The owner of the School of Dance and Music, Liliana Somma, told KTLA that she is working with police to find who placed the cameras in the bathrooms. She has since hired a company to perform a sweep of the studio, according to KTLA.
