Employee Struck 'For Unprovoked Reason': Redondo Beach Crime Blotter
The crime blotter covers incidents in Redondo Beach from Oct. 27 to Nov. 2.
REDONDO BEACH, CA — The following is the most recent Redondo Beach Police Department crime blotter.
Shoplifting
- Oct. 27- Knob Hill Avenue and South Catalina Avenue
- A man was arrested after attempting to steal from a store and physically assaulting an employee, according to RBPD. According to police, the suspect threw a bucket containing the stolen items at the employee.
- Oct. 25 - 1700 block of Aviation Boulevard
- According to police, a woman stole from a store and assaulted an employee as she left the store. RBPD said the woman hid stolen items inside a bag before making her way to the exit and striking an employee "for an unprovoked reason." Police said 36 bottles of body wash were stolen. The suspect is described as a Black woman of unknown age who was seen leaving the location in a silver Kia Soul.
Commercial Burglary
- Oct. 28-29 - 600 block of Torrance Boulevard
- A man smashed the front door to a business and stole cash before fleeing the scene, RBPD said. No additional information about the suspect was provided.
Residential Burglary
- Oct. 29 - 2299 block of Farrell Avenue
- A Cannondale bike and a Giant single-speed bike were stolen from a locked garage at an apartment complex, RBPD said. The suspects were described as white men ages 20-40.
- Oct. 29 - 2800 block of Perkins Lane
- A burglar made off with necklaces, costume jewelry and a jewelry box from a Redondo Beach home before he was scared away by the resident screaming. According to police, the suspect removed the window screen to get into the home. No information was available about the suspect.
- Oct. 24-25 - 1700 block of Grant Avenue
- A bike was stolen from a locked, gated garage for an apartment complex, RBPD said. Additional information about the identity of the suspect and how they got into the garage was unavailable.
- Oct. 25, 2023 - 200 block of Yacht Club Way
- A GoPro camera, a speaker, clothing, and jewelry were stolen from a locked houseboat, RBPD said. No additional information about the incident was available.
Vehicle Burglary
- Oct. 28-29 - 2700 block of Artesia Boulevard
- A satchel containing a work ID and hygiene items was reported stolen from a locked pickup truck, RBPD said. No additional information about the incident was available.
- Oct. 26 - 2100 block of Manhattan Beach Boulevard -
- A man was arrested after he attempted to break into two vehicles but was observed by the owner of the cars, RBPD said. According to police, the owner followed the suspect to the parking structure and nothing was stolen.
Taken From Vehicle
- Oct. 28-29 - 400 block of South Catalina Avenue
- According to RBPD, a garage remote, a toolbox full of tools and two welding tanks were stolen from a possibly unlocked truck. No additional information about the incident was available.
- Oct. 27 through Nov. 2 - Redondo Beach
- During the reporting period, three catalytic converters were stolen from various locations throughout the city.
