FedEx Lends SEA Lab a Helping Hand
Southern California FedEx employees spend a day in the sun volunteering at the SEA Lab.
About 50 volunteers from FedEx spent the day last Thursday volunteering at the on Harbor Drive in South Redondo Beach.
In addition to building a supply shed, putting up an awning and constructing new holding tanks for the sea creatures, which are rescued from the 's intake system, the volunteers built the frame for a shade structure to protect part of the native plant garden.
According to Mary Gonzales, the managing director for information technology for FedEx Services, the volunteer day was a joint effort between FedEx and the Los Angeles Conservation Corps, which run the SEA Lab.

"It just really seemed to fit, with the location and what they do here," said Gonzales, who organized the event.
The event was limited to 50 volunteers, and the sign-up sheet filled up quickly. "This was of huge interest to a lot of the team members," Gonzales said.
