Local Beach Gets 'F' in Water Quality

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health grades four of Redondo's beaches. Three receive "C's" and one receives an "F."

The beach 50 yards north of the Herondo Street storm drain in Redondo Beach received an "F" in the latest round of beach grades from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

Three other county beaches in Redondo received grades of "C"—the beach in front of the Herondo Street storm drain, the beach 50 yards south of the Redondo Beach Pier and the north side of the Topaz jetty, according to water-quality testing averages released Wednesday.

Additionally, beachgoers should stay out of the water between the Redondo Beach Pier and 100 yards south of the Pier, according to the Department of Public Health. The water did not meet California ocean water bacteria standards during its most recent testing.
