High Surf, Strong Rip Currents Expected In Redondo Beach
Los Angeles County beaches will have unsafe conditions through Wednesday due to an incoming swell.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Los Angeles County beaches, including those in Redondo Beach, will see dangerously high surf and increased rip activity Tuesday and Wednesday, authorities warned.
A "large, long-period, westerly swell" was expected to bring in surf between three to six feet across the Los Angeles County coast, according to the National Weather Service for Los Angeles and Oxnard. The swell would bring dangerous rip currents.
"West facing beaches will see surf in the well overhead range, with increased rip currents and hazardous conditions so please be sure to know your limits and check in with a lifeguard prior to entering the water," the Los Angeles County Fire Department's lifeguard division said in an Instagram post.

Locals were advised to remain out of the water and away from rock walls and jetties.
"Never turn your back to the ocean or be unaware of larger wave sets approaching the surf zone," NWS warned.

The swell recently ran through Hawaii during the Eddi Aikau Big Wave Invitational, according to the lifeguard division.
"Signs of the swell have been seen throughout the day, but will peak early [Tuesday] evening and hold throughout tomorrow," the division wrote on Instagram.
