Illegal Cannabis, Vapes Seized By Authorities In Redondo Beach: PD

Police in the Redondo Beach are vowing to crack down on illegal cannabis and nicotine products.

REDONDO BEACH, CA — Authorities in Redondo Beach recently busted two smoke shops for selling illegal nicotine and cannabis products, the Redondo Beach Police Department said Friday.

On March 6, Redondo Beach police and the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration conducted an inspection at a smoke shop on the 2400 block of 190th Street. "The operation led to the recovery of numerous units of flavored tobacco and nicotine, along with other illegal cannabis products. These items are prohibited for sale under California law," police said.

On Wednesday, authorities conducted an inspection at a smoke shop on the 2200 block of Artesia Boulevard where they confiscated "numerous boxes of flavored tobacco and cannabis products," police said.

The store owners now face administrative hearings and potential fines, police said.

"We take all community concerns seriously and the police department has received numerous complaints about smoke shops in Redondo Beach selling illegal products," Police Chief Joe Hoffman said. "In response, we will continue working alongside our state partners to enforce applicable laws that safeguard public health. The sale of illegal products will not be tolerated in Redondo Beach."

In recent years California has strengthened laws prohibiting the sale of flavored tobacco products, including vapes. However, many smoke shops around the Southland continue to sell banned products.
