They were shot as they drove up the garage of their home. The man's grandmother was also inside the car but was unhurt.

A mother and son were shot and killed as they drove up to the garage of their home, sheriff’s officials said Sunday.

It occurred Saturday, just before midnight, in the 19500 block of East Tillman Avenue in Carson, according to Deputy Mike Barraza of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

A videographer at the scene said the woman and her son were in a car with the man’s grandmother when shots were fired after another vehicle pulled up to the house.

The woman died in the vehicle while it was in the driveway. The man got out of the car and made it to the lawn where he collapsed and died, the videographer said.

The grandmother was not injured.

Neighbors said the man was not known to be a gang banger, but noted people were often seen going in and out of the house because it was also used to record music.
