Ocean Spray Expands Craisins Recall

Ocean Spray expanded its recall on Original Flavor Craisins Dried Cranberries because they might have very small, hairlike metal fragments mixed in with the fruit, the company announced Friday.

According to a news release posted on the Food and Drug Administration's website, the metal fragments are "unlikely to cause consumer injury."

"Ocean spray issued the voluntary recall out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of our consumers," Ocean Spray said in the news release. No injuries were reported.

The original recall of Craisins—which are packaged in 5-ounce, 10-ounce,  48-ounce and 10-pound containers—were sold across the country; the units recently added to the recall were sold in California, Arizona, Colorado, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.

People who bought the recalled Craisins should destroy them but save the UPC label and best-by date. They can contact the Ocean Spray Consumer Hotline at 800-662-3263 from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. Pacific Time Monday through Friday to get a coupon replacement.
