Police Seek Bicycle Fall Witnesses

A 68-year-old Los Angeles cyclist is hospitalized with serious injuries after he fell off his bike.

A 68-year-old Los Angeles resident was hospitalized for serious injuries after a he fell off his bike in the 100 block of South Catalina Avenue early Thursday afternoon, and investigators are looking for witnesses, according to a news release from the .

The responded to a call at about 12:41 p.m. saying the cyclist—whose name was not released—needed medical assistance.

"Due to the nature of the injuries, the Redondo Beach Police Department took over the incident as a collision investigation," according to the news release.

Sgt. Shawn Freeman told the Daily Breeze that police had no idea how the man "(wound) up on the ground ... needing medical assistance"; however, the news release called the incident a "traffic collision."
