RBPD Arrests 24 in DUI Crackdown
Two people are arrested at a DUI and driver's license checkpoint in Redondo Beach.

About 100 law enforcement agencies in Los Angeles County police agencies made 2,433 drunken driving arrests in 17 days, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.
That number includes 24 arrests made by the , which participated in the "Avoid the 100" campaign's Dec. 16-Jan. 2 crackdown. Two of the RBPD's arrests occurred during a Dec. 30 , said Officer Jeffrey Mendence, an investigator with the department's traffic unit.

Compared to last year's campaign, officers made 39 more arrests this year county-wide, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

More anti-DUI operations are scheduled in February to coincide with Super Bowl Sunday and in mid-March to coincide with St. Patrick's Day.
The task force included most major law enforcement agencies in the county. Los Angeles County has 88 incorporated cities, many of which have their own police departments, while others have policing contracts with the sheriff's department, which also patrols the county's 130 unincorporated communities.
