RBPD Schedules DUI Checkpoint

Officers will set up a DUI and driver's license checkpoint somewhere within Redondo Beach city limits from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday.

A DUI and driver's license checkpoint will be set up Friday evening at an undisclosed location, according to a news release from Investigator Jeff Mendence.

The checkpoint, which will be within Redondo Beach city limits, will be set up from 7 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Saturday, Mendence said. Officers will check drivers for signs of impairment and proper driver's licenses.

People caught driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol risk jail, driver's license suspension, insurance increases, fines, fees, DUI classes and other expenses than can exceed $10,000, according to the news release.

"Over the course of the past three years, 78 DUI drivers have caused collisions that have injured 117 of our friends and neighbors," Mendence said in the news release.
