Redondo Councilman Endorses Huey

Redondo Beach City Councilman Matt Kilroy offers his endorsement of Republican Craig Huey in the race for California's new 66th Assembly District.

Redondo Beach City Councilman Matt Kilroy endorsed Torrance businessman and Republican Craig Huey in his race for California's new 66th Assembly District, Huey's campaign announced in a news release Monday.

Huey is running against Torrance school board member and Democrat Al Muratsuchi to represent the South Bay—including Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, the Palos Verdes Peninsula and Torrance—in the State Assembly.

Huey and Muratuschi beat Republican Nathan Mintz in California's top-two jungle primary in June to proceed to the general election.

"Craig Huey will stand up to special interests and help grow jobs in this region,"  said Kilroy, a Republican who represents North Redondo Beach's District 5. "Craig has decades of experience as a small-business owner and knows what it will take to turn this economy around."

In the news release, Huey thanked Kilroy for his support.

Kilroy is not the only South Bay city official to endorse Huey recently. Earlier this month, Rancho Palos Verdes Mayor Anthony Misetich announced his endorsement of the Republican.
