Redondo Teen Survives Plane Crash

A Redondo Union High School freshman volunteering with LIGA International is one of three survivors of a small-plane crash, CBS Los Angeles reports.

A Redondo Beach teen is in good condition after surviving a plane crash in Mexico, CBS Los Angeles reported Monday.

Liam Guzman, 15, is one of three survivors of the small plane crash near El Fuerte in Sinaloa, Mexico, the television station reported. His father, who was also on the volunteer medical trip, was not on the plane.

The Associated Press reported that the pilot, identified as John Frederic Slater of Tempe, Ariz., died in the crash, which occurred after the Cessna he was flying hit power lines.

The group was in Mexico as part of LIGA International, an organization that volunteers in Sinaloa to provide free health care and education, according to its website.

Liam is a freshman at , according to the Boys Lacrosse Junior Varsity roster.
