Redondo Volleyball Wins First Playoff Match

The Redondo Union girl's volleyball team beat Long Beach Poly three games to one Tuesday evening and advanced to the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1-AA playoffs.

The Sea Hawks took the first two games of the matchup, 25-21 and 25-15 respectively, but Redondo trailed Long Beach Poly by as many as 10 points in the third game and eventually lost it with a score of 18-25.

A rally from the Sea Hawks in the fourth game sealed Long Beach Poly's fate as Redondo won the game 25-20 and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. 

Redondo, which finished second overall in the Bay League during regular season play, will now face the overall No. 3 seeded Dos Pueblos who advanced through the first round of the playoffs with a bye. 

The second-round matchup is scheduled for 7p.m. Thursday at Dos Pueblos in Goleta, Calif.
